'Screenprinting' by definition is a bit different for me.
Click here for the MET’s definition of a screenprint. Basically where the fork in the road between how everyone else makes screen prints and how I make them, is that I use paper stencils.
Every shape for every color is cut out of paper by me with an exact-o bade. As the paper stencil is destroyed in the process, I am left with a limited edition of prints. This small batch is also a separator for me because I can only offer what I make as other methods of screen printing allows for hundreds of prints to be made.
Each one is truly different as the layers never line up perfectly- each one is an original.
I’ve also held off on mass producing my work- its all just made by me and in these small batches.
I do have a professional photographer document one print from each edition so that future generations can enjoy my work. However, the originals are all I offer for now and although this is definitely another separator for my work and values, I’ve found it to be even more special because my collectors are more special too.
